Los protestantes tienen bellísimas canciones y pedazos de solistas y de coros que no te quiero contar. Si no fuera católico por tradición, vocación y conspiración, me sentiría muy a gusto con la fe sencilla de esos bautistas que le rezan a Jesús cantando, como el hermanito de Asís, y mi vida transcurriría entre caminos polvorientos, comiendo pan de maíz, gordo y feliz.
Resulta cuanto menos curiosa la facilidad con la que la música nos toca a todos la fibra sensible, te dices que si un político tuviera tres dedos de frente, haría más caso de los músicos que de los asesores -que son muy aburridos y dicen siempre lo mismo- y procuraría elegir o encargar canciones pegadizas, y no sólo himnos como los de los nazis y comunistas sino música religiosa o cuasi religiosa como el Down in the river to pray que oí por primera vez en esa magnífica película de los Cohen, O Brother.
